Karthi who is awaiting the release of two of his movies – Ayirathil Oruvan and Paiyya is said to have signed a new film opposite to Tollywood heartthrob Anushka.
Karthi who is the younger brother of Suriya shot to fame in his debut movie Paruthiveeran with Ameer. After that for the past 2 years he has been working in Selvaraghavan’s Ayirathil Oruvan and now has also finished shooting for the next movie Paiyya.
Now Karthi is busy shooting for Naan Mahan Alla, directed by Vennila Kabadi Kulu fame Susindhran and has Kajal Agarwal acting opposite to him.
Anushka who is acting with Suriya in Singam will be seen with Karthi if the project is confirmed.

If laughter is the best medicine along with mass masala items, then veteran director KS Ravikumar has earned his stripes again with Aadhavan. Add Suriya, who looks sensational in a role that has negative shades and lots of comedy. The actor manages to pump some clean fun and make it the ideal family entertainer for Diwali.
The wafer-thin storyline depends more on Suriya’s star power to cruise through two hours and 45 minutes. Aadhavan (Suriya) is a hired assassin who works in tandem with Ibrahim Rowther (Sayaji Shinde) and his son (Anand Babu) in Kolkata. Justice Subramaniyam (late Malayalam actor Murali), is about to give his final judgment in an organ trade case where hundreds of children died due to the greed of a doctor, Abdul Kulkarni (Rahul Dev).
Kulkarni approaches Rowther with a contract to kill the judge and Aadhavan starts his next mission. But for the first time in his life, the ace assassin misses his mark and Aadhavan, through the help of Bannerji (Vadivel), comes into close contact with the Judge’s large family consisting of his mother (Saroja Devi), niece Tara (Nayanthara) and others. Soon Aadhavan finds out certain dark secrets and also develops a soft corner for Tara. Finally, the hunter turns hunted as the film hurtles towards the climax.
Only problem with Ramesh Kanna’s story is that it does not have a single original bone in its body, and is inspired from various movies. The film moves at a leisurely pace in the first half (92 minutes), depending mainly on Suriya and Vadivel’s bickering. The story does not move forward. The second half is racy (73 minutes), despite a predictable climax. The Kollywood mass hero turns into a one-man fighting machine and saves his loved ones after doing the impossible.
The music of Harris Jayaraj is hummable, though the placement of songs just does not gel with the narration, with Hasili Fisili and Yaeno Yaeno in the second half, which looks alike. The action scenes of Kanal Kannan and Franz Spilhaus are sensational, especially the hit and run chase picturised in Kolkata in the first half. Also, Ganesh’s camerawork has sheen. The special effects job where Suriya is transformed into a 10-year-old look realistic.
It is an out and out Suriya show. The film rides on the magic of the actor, and his zany shenanigans alone makes it worth a watch. Nayanthara looks beautiful and classy, and for a change, her glamour image has not been exploited. She comes across as the girl-next-door. Murali, in his last film, puts up a convincing performance while Saroja Devi as the Paati is okay with her trademark, excessive make-up. Vadivel is a scream and is present throughout the film.
Ranging through a wide field of comedy laced with action, Aadhavan is good fun while it lasts. It’s a roller-coaster ride of pure unadulterated masala.

This movie is produced bilingual and in Telugu they titled as “Mallanna”. Kanthasamy directed by Susi Ganesan and produced by Kalaipuli Dhanu. The crew had spent nearly Rs 15,000 for every single invitation for the official launch of the movie. The electronic invitation made in china was the main attraction among the guests at the time of launch. Devi Sri Prasad compose music for the film and this film is a big one for Devi. The film would reach theaters on May. Director Susi planned to shoot the film in Kenya but due to local problems in Kenya the cast and crew went on to Mexico to suit major song sequences. The Mexican locations will be new to Tamil film fans. Indrajith, elder brother of Hero actor Prithviraj, playing the Villain role and it would be an added advantage to the film as Tamil fans seeing the same Villains for years.

Asin Beats Aishwarya Rai To Become 'Dreamgirl'
It has been quite a while since the talk has been on in Bollywood as to who among the leading ladies can be deemed as the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood. Apparently, after the southern beauty Hema Malini there has not been a single person who could nab that title but recently, Hema ji herself came up with the statement that according to her, the green eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the deserving candidate.
Since then, many media channels have been trying to ascertain whether the audience and film buffs feel the same or not. However, it is being said that all surveys are pointing in one direction, to that of the hot Malayalam beauty Asin. Just one film old in Bollywood and that too a blockbuster hit, Asin has been a hot property in the south before she packed her bags to Mumbai. But much to the surprise of many, Asin has beaten the likes of the angel of beauty Katrina Kaif and the queen Aishwarya herself.

Nayanthara in Manirathinam’s film
Rathinam is capable making mythological stories to suit the modern trends. From Mahabharatha he churned Dhalapthy. Now he is making the movie Ravanan inspired from Ramayana. This film is being made in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously. In the Tamil version Vikram is donning the role of Raman. Aishwarya is donning the role of Seetha. In Hindi version Abhishek is donning the role of Rama. Now Manirathinam feels that Nayanthara would be suitable do the role of Mandodari, the wife of Ravana.
Suhasini Manirathinam is speaking to Nayanthara with regard to this. But Nayanthara has not given an affirmative reply yet. But it seems that she has told Suhasini,” I am a glamorous actress. My fans expect glamour from me. But there won’t be glamour in your husband’s film. I don’t know whether I will be suitable for this role.” Suhasini said that she will speak to her husband about this and call back.
Kalaignar TV launches Kalaignar Asia; introduces fresh shows
The coming few weeks will see Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam backed Kalaignar TV adding one more general entertainment channel (GEC), Kalaignar Asia, to its existing bouquet of four channels, namely Kalaignar TV (GEC), Isai Aruvi (music channel), Seithigal (news channel) and Sirrippoli (comedy channel).
The coming month will also mark the launch of four new shows on the GEC. Confirming these developments to afaqs!, a senior official at Kalaignar TV says, "The coming few days will see the launch of Kalaignar Asia, which will cater to the entertainment demands of the Tamil people in Southeast Asian countries. The channel will be broadcast through THAICOM-5 satellite and will be operated from the Kalaignar TV premises in Chennai. The 24 hour entertainment channel will focus on daily soaps and films for entertainment."
Besides the imminent launch of the new GEC, four fresh shows have been lined up for Kalaignar TV. The shows scheduled to go on air in August are Karuthu Yutham, Poova? Thalaya?, Aval Oru Minsaram and Idhu Rose Neram.
Karuthu Yutham is an hour long offering in the format of a debate. The first episode will be aired on August 2 at 1:30 pm and will see participants debating the emerging nightlife culture in Tamil Nadu, with both men and women frequenting night clubs. The show will also have a panel of counsellors dissecting the social implications of this emerging phenomenon.
Tamil celebrity artists Kushboo and Sripriya will play host in the weekly talk show, titled Poova? Thalaya? (meaning head or tail). The two Tamil movie actors will lock horns on various welfare issues concerning women. They will represent two diverse views on any given topic.
Sharing details about the other projects, the official says, "The daily soap, Aval Oru Minsaram, will be aired from Monday to Thursday. It has been slotted at 9:30 pm. Saturdays will see a new programme, titled Idhu Rose Neram, which is being produced and anchored by a transgender, Rose, who holds a PhD in psychology. The show will see her raise topics of relevance for women."
Interestingly, Idhu Rose Neram claims to have the novelty factor of serving food to all those present on the programme, including the host, participants and the panel of experts. Moreover, experts will closely monitor and study the proceedings on the show and share their observations with individual participants, asking them for feedbacks and their reactions to various issues discussed on the show.
Kalaignar TV plans to complement the new launches with the strong collection of movie titles in its library. The GEC boasts of popular movies such as Sivaji, Kuselan, Billa, Bhima and Varanam.
Happy Birthday Surya
He is one of the hottest hero of Tamil Cinema and is ready to experiment with all his roles to give his audience and fans some quality cinema. Saravanan Sivakumar, popularly known as Suriya in kollywood has come a long way from Nerrukku Ner to his latest released Ayan.
Surya is currently busy shooting for Aadhavan with Nayantara directed by K. S. Ravikumar, followed by Singam directed by Hari. 100 voices in Ajith’s introductory song
Bharadwaj is composing Music for this film. Bharadwaj who had worked earlier with Charan in his earlier films is back again after a gap. He says his film will take him to great heights.

Since the film is shot in foreign locales there will be no kuthu songs in this film. Bharadwaj says that all the songs he head composed for Charan films have been hits. So he feels that the songs of this film also become popular.

2000 villagers participate in the climax scene of Vaigai
New faces Bala and Visaka are in the lead roles. As per the story Bala is the son of the Panchayat President and Visaka is the Post Master’s daughter. Love blossoms between the two. But due to the social status they are not able to unite. The climax scene was recently shot in Vandapuli village.
Two thousand villages along with the actors participated in this shooting. L R Sundrapandi has written the story, screenplay and dialogues. He is also directing this film. P P G Kumaran is producing this film. The song Ayiram Thamarai from the film Alaigal Oyvadhillai is being used in this film in the original version itself. Sai Kumar, Kanga Karuppu, Thalaivasal Vijay, Thennavan, Singamuthu and Shyam Sundar are also starring in this film.
Similarly this is the only river which does not converge into sea. Vaigai is the film which is based on this theme. This film is a real incident which took place in a village near Thirumangalam.

They had signed me for this film, but since some of my films did not do well at the box office, they wanted me to reduce my salary. I did not agree for this. So another actress was selected who took lesser pay than me. There is nothing wrong in this.

Director Siddique confirms ‘Bodyguard’ remake with Vijay
Earlier, there were news about Siddique directing Vijay for his Malayalam’s remake of ‘Bodyguard’ to Tamil with Vijay.
But all of sudden, there were no calls on air about it. Now Director Siddique himself comes forward about reasons for the project not taking off. He says, ‘We were supposed to complete shooting before couple of months and due to unavoidable consequences couldn’t get it done.
Almost 90% of the filming is over and merely three songs and few talkie portions at Railway Station are pending. We aren’t able to get the permission for shooting at Railway station due to monsoon issues and thusly the shooting has been postponed to the month of August.

Asin injured while learning martial arts
Kamal and Asin are acting in the English film 19 Steps. Asin who has completed the shooting of the Hindi film London Dreams is getting ready for this film.
The shooting of the film will commence within a month’s time. This film has an historical back ground. Kalari fight which is martial art plays an important role in this film. So Asin was requested to undergo training for this.
Asin is now camped in Kerala for the last two weeks and is undergoing training in Kalari fight. Every morning she leaves her house in the early hours and travel for one hour to reach her training place. She returns back in the evening.

Kamal Haasan inaugurates Kamala Theatre
One of the prominent theatres of Chennai ‘Kamala’ Theatre was inaugurated in 1972 by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and owner himself.
The first film to be filmed there was ‘Sange Mulangu’. The theatre was renovated and re-opened recently before couple of days with Kamal Haasan, Vivek, Vijay, Manorama, Napoleon and versatile politicians taking part in it.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamal Haasan said that during this time where theatres are shut down and remodeled into shopping malls, it’s a bold attempt by Kamala Theatre Groups as they’ve made single screen in 2 theatres.

After the release I will act in my next film. I am learning salsa and belly dance in Mumbai. I have studied in Film Institute. Therefore I would like to act in stage plays.I would like stage plays and act in Mumbai.”

Shahrukh replaces Aamir!
Aamir Khan has turned down the state government’s offer to campaign against child labour. The state labour ministry had been pursuing the actor for over four months.
Kavita Gupta, state labour secretary, said, “We felt Aamir was ideal for the campaign. It took us a while before we could meet and discuss the idea with him. We were told that he was busy with the election campaign, after which he was going abroad. We could only meet him after he returned. But unfortunately, he won’t be doing the campaign.”
It was only recently that Gupta managed to meet the actor with a concept note. “He said he’s been doing a lot of government interest campaigns and felt that if he spoke on every subject, his credibility would suffer,” said Gupta. When asked if the government is planning to approach any other actor, she said, “I guess we will have to approach Shah Rukh Khan now.”
Clarifying his position on the matter, Aamir said, “I’m doing a lot of public service messages and I didn’t want to dilute the (message in the) ads that I’ve already done by doing another one.” The actor has earlier done public service ads like the election campaign and promotion of tourism.

Actress Thamannah has charged Rs.50Lakhs as her remuneration for Vijay’s 50th film titled ‘Urimai Kural’.

Sandhya the heroine of Manjal Veyil has denied that she has done a lip lock in the film.
She says: “Manjal Veyil is a clean love story. I play Gayathri a college girl and recently I was baffled when I read that I am doing a kissing scene with my hero. I think it is a publicity gimmick used by the director to market the film”.
On whether she will ever do kissing on screen, the actress is quick to answer: “No way. Do you know that recently, I opted out of a film for the simple reason that the script demanded a kissing scene? I was thoroughly impressed by the script and the director but I don’t think that I’ll be comfortable while doing it”.
Sandhya has almost completed her magnum opus, the P. Vasu directed Aaptharakshaka in Kannada and Odipolama in Tamil with newcomer Parimal. She says that both the films have shaped out well and is all praise for Vishnuvardhan the Kannada superstar who is so down-to-earth and encouraging.
Prabhu Deva- Nayan to marry?
This is turning to be the worst amongst all romantic affairs in tinsel ville. Prabhu Deva, father of three children is in love with Nayanthara. Although the news was considered to be a rumor earlier, sources have confirmed it.
Sources have revealed that concern has been shown from both of the sides and soon Prabhu might opt for divorce with his current wife.
Prabhu Deva has fled to unknown place stating that he is working on a Hindi project. Meanwhile, Nayan too is missing from town and seems to have gone for a foreign schedule. This has evoked yet more speculations on this issue.

Santosh Sivan joins team ‘Raavan’
The ‘Raavan’ team has been into a lot lately. First it was the director Mani Ratnam becoming ill to the point of getting hospitalized. Now it is his camera man for the film Manikandan walking out on him.
The reason for Manikandan quitting is because he seems to committed himself to a Farah Khan project that is about to begin in June. With Mani getting ill and the project stalling a getting delayed Manikandan seems to have not fulfilled his commitment to Mani Ratnam.
So what happens now? Mani Ratnam has called his old friend and ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan to complete his project ‘Raavan’ successfully. With more than 60 percent of the film complete and his cinematographer walking out on him Mani Ratnam is confident that Santosh will do justice to the film.
A friend in need is a friend indeed!

Aascar Ravichandran to produce Vijay’s film
Producer Ravichandran of Aascar Movies has been the most successful producers in town possessing the best traits of money-spinner.
He has produced the grandiloquent flicks of all times that has turned to be the biggest blockbusters like ‘Anniyan’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and many more flicks with Kamal Haasan, Vijayakanth, Vikram, Ajith and more actors.
